Woven Shibori is a process in which heavier, gathering threads are woven into a cloth in a selected pattern. The remainder of the cloth is woven in fine, polyester thread. Thus the gathering threads are alternating with the polyester threads in a pre-determined manner. The cloth is removed from the loom.
The gathering threads are gathered and tied. The next step could be the application of dye or to steam in a pressure cooker to set the folds. The results are quite amazing.
